Everyday Hair Products

Let's Talk Hair!

So I've gotten quite a few questions about what hair products I use. I honestly don't use a lot. I have my hair routine that I do after every shower, and then for anything else I usually only need hair spray. But with that being said I'll give you a run down of what I do on a normal basis.

1. Shampoo, Conditioners.
I have used so many shampoos and conditioners. From cheap to expensive, they all work differently and just because something is expensive doesn't make it good. I learnt that the hard way. Finding a shampoo and conditioner that works for you will be a lot of trail and error. Things that work for me might not work for everyone. Every one's hair is different :)

I always find myself going back to these. I bought them on a whim at Ulta one day and loved them. I've ventured off from them and tried so many other things, but we always find our way back to one another ;) haha These are "Matrix Biolage Shampoo and Conditioner" its for color treated hair. They also have ones for moisture/dry hair and a ton more. I got these in a gift set for $22, but normally it would run around $32. Now, I know that seems like a lot but when it comes to your hair that's where you really want to splurge if your going to. I also do not wash  my hair everyday, I find it very damaging and drying to wash everyday ( I do shower everyday though, just an FYI ha). So by washing my hair every 2-3 days I don't use these products a lot so they last awhile.Between washes I like to use a dry shampoo. The one my "DOVE" is my favorite and runs around $4.

Another big part of my routine is a deep repair mask. I don't use this every time I was my hair, usually once a week or once every two weeks. Over using a repair mask can in turn damage your hair more if your not careful.
This is by far my holy grail product! I had a stylist fry my poor hair at the end of 2011 and thanks to this its slowly getting back to a semi healthy state. I say "semi healthy" because I do add bleach to my hair for my highlights so therefore there's always some sort of damage, buuut its as healthy as it can be right now :) This product is "Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Mask". This is pretty pricey as well, but I bought this in September and I've barely made a dent in it. You can get this in stores like Ulta for $33, but I order mine from Amazon and usually get if for around $20. I highly recommend this to anyone with dry, damaged hair. It's life changing ;)

Now for all my blonde ladies out there, or my ladies with really blonde highlights like myself. If any of that applies to you, you definitely need to invest in this next product.

Shimmer Lights Shampoo keeps my blonde bright and keeps it from getting that yucky brassy color. This is a BRIGHT purple shampoo that will cancel out any brassyness or yellowish tones that happens to blonde hair from washing, styling and hard water. This keeps me from having to dye my hair as often. It truly is a life saver. You can get this at Sally's Beauty Supply for $7. I use this every other time I was my hair.

2. After shower products
The first product I use after a shower is heat protectant. Even when I let my hair air dry (which I normally do), I use this first and foremost. Heat protectant has components that soften your hair and make it easier to comb out. Right now I'm using "Got2be Guardian Angel" and I really recommend it.
 Before; curly/wavy knotted mess!

AFTER! Ta-Da!

After that I use a hair oil. Now be careful with these stuff and NEVER apply it near your roots or you'll end up looking like a grease ball! I use a very small amount and work it from right about the top of my ear down through my ends. I've used a ton of those as well, and I have to say they pretty much all work the same. I use the one I have now basically because it contains aragan oil, which is awesome. This is "Proclaim Professional Hair care Aragan Oil " It can be found at Sally's Beauty Supply and I think it costs between $5-$8 I can't really remember. I've had this stuff almost a year so it really lasts.

The oil had spread out a bit here, but use a small amount. I have thick hair so I use a bit more.
Start from here and work your way down. The further away from your roots the better!

And last, is another holy grail product. This is also from the Macadamia Natural Oil line and works hand in hand with the repair mask. It makes my hair so soft and managable. I can't say enough good things about it! It's called Macadamia Natural Oil Nourishing Leave in cream. I only apply this to the very ends of my hair, just because I've already applied to oil so far up, I don't wanna weigh my roots down. This product can also be purchased at Ulta and runs for about $29, but I also purchase this off amazon for around $17.

Again, I use more because of my thick hair.

I start right at the top of my hand and work it into the ends, stay away from the top of my hair.

And there ya have it! Pretty simple and this is pretty much all I do. I got blessed with natural volume to my hair(thanks Dad!) I hope this helped. If you have any other questions please ask away! See you guys next time! :)
