Smokey Eye
The infamous smokey eye, I can't go out with one without someone asking me about it. It's also the most intimidating eye look, when it reality its the easiest! This is a Kardashian inspired look, I do not look like a Kardashian nor do I think I do, but they always have bomb smokey eyes, so here we go!
1. Prime
When doing a smokey eye, the best thing you can do is prime! It keeps the shadow in place, prevents creasing and makes the colors POP! You can use a thick, creamy concealer to prime, an actual eye shadow primer like the one I'm using or a NYX jumbo eye pencil. I like all 3.
Urban Decay Primer Potion is by far my favorite. I rarely use anything else. Its $19 but lasts forever! I bought this tube in 2011, its 2013 ya'll, this thing has lasted!
You need this much for BOTH eyes. This isn't made to coat your eye lids and you should really see anything, that's not whats its for.
2. Eye shadow step by step!
Here we go, step by step instruction of how I did this smokey eye. Please bear with the picture quality, I had no natural light and just my camera on my iPhone.
Just showing my finished eye brow ;)
First I took "Smog" from the Urban Decay Naked Palette and applied it all over my lid.
With your brush, apply to the lid and slightly into the crease.
Next, take a fluffy brush like this, (This one is from Urban Decay and came with the Naked 2 palette), and pick up a light brown to blend with. I used "Naked" also from the Naked Palette.
Place "Naked" just above "Smog" and blend back and forth.
Take a shimmery, light shadow like this one called "Virgin" and apply to brow bone.
This highlights your eye.
Next, take a matte black eye shadow. This one is from a random Ulta palette my husband bought me.
Line your upper lash line very thickly with an angled brush, your gonna blend it out anyway so no need to be really precise with this.
Take your angled brush and pull the color upward onto your lid.
It should look like this :)
Take a Matte dark brown on the fluffy blending brush from earlier.
And blend it into your crease, with windshield wiper motions.
Take a shimmery gold color and lightly, and I mean very lightly sweep it over your lid to give just a bit of sparkle.
Use a flat shader brush and take the "Smog" color from earlier and put it on your bottom lash line.
Use a darker brown on the outer corner of your lash line to darken up the bottom a bit.
I lined my upper lash line with my liquid liner and did a very small wing at the end :)
Now, its time for my fav part, mascara! Mascara always pulls an eye look together in my opinion. Curl those lashes, baby!
I layer my mascaras to get the desired look I want. These are my favs.
Put as much mascara on as you want, but in my opinion you can never have too much ;)
Finished Look!
